How to Spot Vision Problems in Children
Signs to watch for
Changes in a child's vision aren't always easy to spot right away. However, there are a number of signs that may indicate a child has a vision problem. These include:
- Squinting or crossed eyes
- Frequent eye rubbing
- Avoiding eye contact
- Burning eyes
- Excessive blinking
- Frequent headaches
- Sitting too close when writing at school
- Trouble concentrating
- Irritability
- Declining school performance due to nearsightedness
If you notice any of these early signs, it's a good idea to see an eye doctor to address a possible vision problem as early as possible.
